ABOUT USGolden Retriever Rescue of Central New York, Inc. (GRRCNY) is an all-volunteer, full service Golden Retriever rescue program. Our mission is to provide re-homing services to purebred Golden Retrievers and to help the public be informed about the care and training needs of this breed.

Golden Retriever Club of Central New York www.grccny.orgInitially formed in 1995 as a committee of the Golden Retriever Club of Central New York, GRRCNY was formed independently in 1998 so as to pursue charitable group status with the IRS. Both incorporation as a Not-for-Profit corporation in New York State and Charitable groups status were obtained in 1998. The local Golden Retriever Club has remained a strong supporter of Golden Retriever Rescue activities.

GRRCNY accepts purebred Golden Retrievers from a variety of sources and for a variety of reasons. After a period of time in a foster home, during which veterinary care is provided as needed, the Golden Retrievers are introduced to approved adoption applicants. Adoptions then occur with the intent that the Golden and his or her new family develop a life-long bond.
While most Golden Retrievers accepted by our program are surrendered by their owners, some come to us from shelters. Those coming from shelters may have been taken there by their owner or have been strays or otherwise abandoned or unclaimed.
Once accepted, GRRCNY works with several veterinary practices. If the Golden is not spayed or neutered at the time of acceptance, GRRCNY immediately sees that this is done. Without exception, all Goldens made available for adoption by GRRCNY are first spayed or neutered. Vaccinations are current and all routine tests are conducted with treatment occurring as necessary. More extensive treatments including surgeries are provided as necessary.
